On The Block makes ugly music for ugly times.

Formed in 2023, OTB seeks to make antifascist Oi! that reflects their world- one of rising authoritarianism and rising rent. A product of Asheville, North Carolina, they have watched wave upon wave of gentrification bleed the spirit of their city white. Once a haven for freaks, queers, and outcasts, they bear daily witness to the disappearance of the punk houses and DIY spaces sacred to the underground.

On the Block exists out of desperation, out of defiance. A brass-knuckled fist in the face of every oppressor. In the tradition of “having a laugh and having a say,” they draw inspiration from the Oi! and Street Punk sounds they cut their gritted teeth on as kids. The classics, such as Blitz, The Oppressed, The Last Resort, Cockney Rejects. They also draw from the deep well of modern Oi! bands, such as Concrete Elite, Lions Law, and Slugger.

This tape is a document of their first year as a band. Screen printed covers on hand dyed paper, featuring art by Fetal Brain. Edition of 50.
